Technology is the most amazing thing that people managed to achieve during our brief but full of adversities existence. Never before in our history were we so full of ideas, so rich in technological advancements, but at the same time so detached from the world around us. We may live on this planet but thanks to the technology we are as far away from Earth as we are from the rest of the universe. Thanks to technology humans aren’t any more one with nature, as it was several hundred years ago. More and more people find nature threatening and are afraid of it. They care not about pollution, about other species and most importantly about other people.

This doesn’t mean that technology is all bad. All the gadgets we invented during the last few centuries made our lives easier, prolonged and made almost double the time we will spend on this earth. This is twice more time spend with our loved ones, with our family and friends. Furthermore, the new technologies help us free even more of our precious time on this earth to do things we enjoy, rather than to do things we need to survive. Can you imagine if you had to travel hundreds of days to get to the other side of the US for example. Technology gives us some great opportunities. It’s not that technology is good or bad, its the way it’s used.

Sadly humans care little about the downsides of technology and sooner or later it comes to bite them right back. One aspect of the technological development of our species is the complicated and horrific ways we invent to kill each other. Killing millions with a push of a button is no longer a dream of a mad man, it actually can happen. The weapons we produce are so good at killing people, that some sick minds call them “humane”. On the other hand the same technology can save lives. The medical advancements were never so close to finding a panacea than it is today. A cure for all disease may sound like a science fiction, but it may be reality in a hundred years or so. Who knows maybe someday technology can have only the positive effects, but when we see how we treat our planet right now in the name of advancement, we may not have a place to live on in the not so distant future.

This is the worst part of the technological advancement – the pollution. Electronic waste is far more dangerous than regular one. It decays for centuries and some parts may even outlive the human race. This in terms may cause some unspeakable horrors in the animal life and some very disturbing mutations. So the next time you want to throw your battery in the regular trash and not in the e-bin, look at this photos carefully. This may end up at your doorstep.

This beast came ashore after a typhoon in the Philippines. Locals thought it was a sea monster, that came out from the ocean’s depths, but a DNA test showed this creature is actually a baby Whale, caught in plastic and mummified by it. This horrific picture is just one of thousands such photos of dead sea creatures, that were caught in trash, floating in the Pacific, thus immobilizing them and sentencing them to slow and painful death by starvation. The next time you ask for a plastic bag in the store or you throw your plastic bottle in the regular bin, think of this picture and do the right thing – recycle.
