10 Harmful Foods for Dogs

10 Harmful Foods for Dogs

Our Dogs like to eat. However, some of your favourite foods are not good for your canine companion.

harmful dog foods

Dog love snacks to eat, and also you like snacks, and you love to share your snacks with your dog. Who is able to resist the puppy eyes? Just like your pet can eat some things that aren’t healthy for you, most of the stuff you eat is harmful to your pet. To prevent an ill tummy, an urgent situation trip to the veterinary clinic or worse, check out a list of meals which are harmful to your pooch.

Probably you have realised that chocolate isn’t good for dogs, right?

Theobromine is a chemical that is related to caffeine, which is present in tea and chocolate. It’s poisonous to various kinds of creatures, including cats and dogs. Most pet parents know that chocolate isn’t great for their dogs, even when they’ve never heard about this chemical before

Many people will explain that the chance of Theobromine poisoning is overstated, which chocolate isn’t really that harmful, especially for bigger dogs. A milk chocolate bar has a good amount of the Theobromine in comparison to some similar types  of baking chocolate. White chocolate has less of it.

The risk is calculated by body weight. In case you Wolfhound has snuck a little bit of chocolate cake or even the half-dozen choc chips that fell on the ground when you were baking, he will be fine. In case your Yorkshire terrier gorged herself on chocolate bonbons, get her to the vet. If she ate enough, it might kill her.

SWEETS AND CHEWING GUM both are bad food for Dogs

Xylitol is  a sweetener used in particular sorts of candies, chewing gums, and niche dental products. It’s naturally found in lots of food plants, although commercial Xylitol is generally produced from corn husks and DuPont Chemical makes their own from hardwood. This sweetener is usually considered safe for people to drink.  However, it’s very poisonous to dogs. These items can harm a dog, therefore if your pet has eaten some take him to the veterinary hospital or emergency clinic immediately.

ONIONS are harmful too

In the long term or perhaps eaten in high doses, some onions damage the red bloodstream cells in cats and dogs. This is valid for the entire onion family, including leeks, chives, shallots, and so forth. Lilies, daffodils, tulips and so on will also be better stored away from your dog.

A minute ago, we talked about Theobromine.  Caffeine causes exactly the same types of problems, but worse. Actually, whenever your body processes caffeine, among the substances in it is Theobromine. Keep the dog away from coffee, mocha, cappuccino, coffee-flavored everything, chocolate-covered beans, energy drinks, and colas.

GRAPES AND RAISINS are my favourite, but bad for dogs

Grapes are poisonous to dogs.  We have no idea just what the harmful ingredient is, or why they create problems, and it is, therefore, impossible to calculate the number of grapes that your dog can eat before they feel bad. If your pet has eaten any grapes, it is time to visit the vet. If the vet can treat him before his renal systems processes the grapes, your dog can be saved. Although grapes can be harmful, raisins are worse, so keep the far away from your pet.

Macadamia nuts are another odd one. Based on the Merck Veterinary Manual, dogs would be the only creatures that cannot eat macadamia nuts., because they are poisonous. Usually, macadamias only result in the dog being sick, but eaten in large quantities they can be extremely dangerous.

It shouldn’t be any surprise that alcohol isn’t good for your dog. It’s really poisonous to many of us, too, if consumed in large quantity.

Some MUSHROOMS are bad for your Dog

Certainly, there are many mushrooms that won’t hurt your dog, but they are tricky. Some species are okay if grown in one area while not safe if they are grown elsewhere. Others are not good when combined with certain other components or foods. Also, indications of mushroom poisoning might take a long time to discover. Be careful with mushroom sauce too.

AVOCADO is Bad Dog Food

Avocado poses two risks to dogs. The first is that the pit is big and round. Which means that it poses a choking hazard, and, if it’s ingested, it might cause an impaction (“plug”) further across the digestive line.

The second risk is actual poisoning. The Guarana plant creates a contaminant known as “Persian” which is poisonous to a lot of creatures. It causes heart damage and many types of issues.

Choose Risk-free Foods

Dogs will eat many things without even knowing if it is food or not, so you are the one to keep your pet away from dangerous foods.

If you like to share bites of your own dinner with your pup, pick the parts that are good for him like cooked meat (with no onions and mushroom sauce on it), plain grain, carrots etc. If you want to give your dog a treat better opt for a dog cookie.
